Kevin’s Sahara Trek

Walking 70 miles through the Sahara Desert is not for everyone but that is what Midlands-based decorator Kevin Jackson plans to do. This will be the third charity challenge in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital that  62 year old Kevin has undertaken: previous projects include climbing Snowdon at night and walking the 100 mile West Highland Way in Scotland.

He explained: “Fundraising for the hospital began three years ago following the treatment provided for our first grandson Teddy, who was born with a heart defect. We were told he might not make it through the night and he was in intensive care for weeks.” Due to the ‘fantastic’ care taken by staff at the hospital Teddy is now at home, although still needing medication and regular monitoring. “As a family we can never thank the hospital enough for saving little Ted’s life”, he said.

Kevin undertakes the fundraising projects with his daughter Natasha and son-in-law Matt , and so far they have raised £115,000.

He continued, “We will be organising other events between now and the walk so brothers and  sisters of the brush please help by donating what you can, thankyou.”

Donations can be made by clicking the link below and Kevin will also be fundraising at November’s P&D Show in Coventry.
